The Foundation of the House of Literature and Creative Work Houses was established in 1990 by the Ministry of Culture and Art and the three Founders: Polish Writers’ Association, the Polish Writers’ Union and the Polish PEN Club.
The statutory mission of the Foundation is a comprehensive support for these literary organizations and managing and funding of the House of Literature in Warsaw as well as the two Houses of Creative Work - in Obory near Warsaw and in Zakopane.
Until 1999, the Foundation was funded by the Ministry of Culture and Art, since 2000 it has been a self-financing organization.
The Foundation administers three properties: the House of Literature in Warsaw, the Boleslaw Prus House of Creative Work in Obory and the Stefan Zeromski House of Creative Work in Zakopane, and conducts its business in hotels and catering.
The legal basis of the Foundation is the current entry in the National Court Register under the heading 133460.
The Founders and the Foundation Board are the heads of the Foundation.
